Welcome in the spring season with the playful bubbling of Schubert’s fifth symphony. Written when he was only 19, the work seems to defy gravity, paying homage to the nimble forms of classicists like Mozart and Haydn while maintaining the uniquely Schubert-ian flair for beautiful melody. In his second season with the USO, Concertmaster David Song contributes the deeply virtuosic and romantic Vieuxtemps fifth violin concerto.
